Over four seasons, Melony Swasey and Derek Lumpkins co-hosted the Blacklining Forum, a podcast about Black wealth, power, and land, and their relationship to freedom.
Acutely aware of redlining, the systemic and notorious practice in the home lending industry that excluded generations of Black people from the housing market, and which devalued Black and Brown communities across the United States, we flipped the script by centering Black and Brown perspectives. The Blacklining Forum explored the importance of land and real estate, and gave airtime to intersecting topics, including economic racism, hip hop, reparations, dynastic wealth building, moving abroad, and more.
